This weekend there will be a lot of Wheelchair basketball to see in the Victorian State Basketball Centre, 291 George St. in Wantirna Victoria. The last and final round this weekend of the National Wheelchair basketball League for men and women, is where the 4 finalists are playing semi-finals and on Sunday the medal matches.
WOMEN'S WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
Since the start of the Australia’s premier women’s wheelchair basketball league in the weekend of 29-31 May 2026, in total 6 teams were starting the competition and were giving their best. We will not see the teams of Adelaide Thunder and the Gold Coast Rollers in action this weekend because they did not finish within the top four. Sydney Blues and Victoria Wonders are playing in the first Semi Final, while Perth Wheelcats and Sydney Uni Lions are playing in the other Semi-final. These 2 semi-finals will start today at 18.00. The final will take place on Sunday 23 August and start at 12.30 PM.
MEN'S WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
The Australia’s premier men’s wheelchair basketball competition started their first round in the weekend of 12-14 June 2026 and after 5 rounds the 4 finalists are known. For the teams of Southern Sparta and Victoria Marvels no finals this season. Today Manly Wheel Eagles are playing their semi-final against the team of Wollongong Rollerhawks, while in the other semi-final the teams Red Dust Heelers and Perth Wheelcats will face each other. The men final will be on Sunday 23 August and start at 13.45 pm.
After these finals, the focus of the national men and women wheelchair Basketball teams of Australia will be on the World Championships 2026 in Ottawa-Canada, what will start at 9 September 2026.
